The Find a Bed campaign was launched during the peak of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in April-May 2021. Seeing thousands of requests for beds, oxygen cylinders, ICU beds and other medical supplies on social media, I.I.M.U.N. volunteers created India's first national repository of beds and quarantine centres for patients with mild symptoms or those who were asymptomatic. A group of 195 students pulled together a consolidated effort over 72 hours to create this repository. The website enabled users to find the nearest beds and facilities by entering their city or pincode. Launched on May 1, 2021, the platform was available in 11 regional languages. It had 19,217 centres in 446 cities listed on it, which accounted for 6,71,329 available beds and helped impact more than 2,10,000 people. The campaign was endorsed and supported by over 6000+ cause ambassadors, including luminaries such as Karan Johar, Kartik Aryan, and others from all walks of life. Towards the end of the campaign, we even converted a makeshift police quarters into a hospital in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
