Bangalore is known as the IT hub of the country or better as the Silicon valley of the country. Last time we visited Bangalore, we had a wonderful conference for High School students, but this time, the intended audience is different. However, we want it to be a place where diplomacy, negotiation, and arbitration is something that everyone is good at. Where decisions are based on good rationale and reasoning. Where the future of our country, begins to think of the world as one without borders.
Therefore, it is imperative to shape and mould the future generation and more importantly as of now expose them to the concept which shall ingrain in them the very fundamentals of global citizenship. MUNs were started to provide students with an opportunity to learn and role play diplomats. Over time, this aspect of MUN has been diminishing and other pedantic and unnecessary norms and events are taking over. As of today, MUNs have become a social event wherein students come to have fun or interact with each other only. IIMUN was found with an aim to bring about changes and provide students with a reformed and a better quality of MUNs. IIMUN has revolutionised the High School MUNs in regards with substance, decorum, discipline, organising, training et cetera.
It is to this end that we, at the Indian International Model United Nations are going to organise our first of its kind conference for the college students from across the country. Now IIMUN is taking a step forward by entering the Collegiate sector starting with IIM-B. To date, the Model UN conferences have become a part of High Schools and the ones organised at the college level are like social gatherings wherein delegates dress but don't prepare. This limited the competition to only teenagers and not the whole youth as such. Hence, it did not give a taste of what Model UN has to offer for those who can vote, for those who have a bit more experience with the real world.
